Some of the guys I hunt with were complaining about having to ware gloves up here in the north, and waring them changing or softening the sound of their calls. Hanging on to the bottom petistal keeps your gloved fingers away from the call. I've played it with and without gloves and noticed no sound change at all.
This one is made of Curly Ash Burl, Slate over Glass, Chechen striker
