good duck weather...but, wheres the ducks?

woke up, checked outside...wind and rain :rockman:...got set up and waited. finally shooting time came and within 5 minutes had about 15 GW teal plop down right to the right of my spread. i walked out of the cattails and flushed them, picked one and let r rip. to my surprise not 1 fell but 3. i was so shocked i never fired another shot:o:...as i walked out one started swimin so i dispatched him and then another flew away. still not sure where i hit him, but i must have just stunned him. oh well, 2 IN THE BAG for one shot....ill take it.

shortly thereafter we had 4 gadwalls working the dekes. after circling about 3 times on commited and flew right into the pocket where my dad dispatched him.

....and then nothing. a few here and there and that was it. the refuge was even quiet this morning. i got a feeling that some ducks headed south in the last couple days. i thought it was gonna be a "limit" kinda day, but it was anything but that.....still good to get out though. hopefully this front will bring some "new" ducks down. DUCK GODS...MORE MALLARDS PLEASE!!!

shot a canada too, but couldnt find it in the thick cattails and willows. looked for over 2 hours. i hit him twice...the first he dropped down, then the second i broke a wing. i had a good mark, but he must of ran and hid somewhere. i tried my best...still bums me out though.

:shit: we got till nov. 4th before we open up in my area, but i'm gonna go to a youth hunt to video on the 21st. and i'll video the 28th the opener in kansas, with some of my pro staffers...
