January 14th Update......Part 1

Location: Hunted a low treeline near a levee near the Mississippi River.
This island is public hunting made up of both Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Corps of Engineers land. On the east side of the island is a canal off of the Mississippi river and the west side is the Mississippi river.
The location we hunted was a long treeline running alongside a levee between a cornfield and IDNR natural "weeds" or wildlife cover or just basically useless land.

Temp: Cloudy with morning temps in the lower 30's warming to around 40 by midday. Light winds with a hint of fog from the snow melting.

Setup: We placed around 40 decoys on top of the levee with stragglers climbing the levee on both sides of the center. In the center we placed one of our Quest Outdoors "Crow Masters" to add that motion they like. In a 60+ year old tree along the treeline we placed around 20 more decoys hanging from 15-18 foot tree limbs.

Results: The open fields around us allowed the crows to come in super high for a look. We did scratch 11 birds before we picked up for a location change. Birds were crossing canal much closer to C.O.E. timber area.
