Merganser Decoys?????
Anybody ever use or try merganser decoys?? For the last couple of years....we have had common mergansers pass just out of gun range...but definately looking at our diver rig...... I was wondering if trying to add a couple of merganser decoys to the spread......or just outside of it....would bring them inn just a little closer...??? Any ideas?????

Either Merganser or Canvasback decoys would probably work... Anything with a little white on it. I've never used Merganser decoys myself but can't see why it would hurt.

We annually hunt divers on the Mississippi River the week before christmas........dedicate the entire week to chasing them........ and have found that even with over 200 black/white decoys.......Merg's don't seem to care about big decoy spreads. Our spreads are made up of Cans, Bluebills, Goldeneye's and some Buffies. I am going to try some E.Allen Common Merg's this year.......hopefully.....and see if I can pull a few of them in closer.
